Randy Langston
On December 9, 2005, Randy Langston (DOB: 3/9/1969 of 4251 West 5th Avenue, Chicago) was sentenced to nearly 8 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods Program. Langston was arrested just after midnight on January 21, 2004, while selling marijuana in the area of Lawndale Avenue and Roosevelt Road in Chicago by Chicago Police Department Tactical Officers operating in the 10th District. Langston, a Black Gangster member, had a loaded .25 caliber handgun in his possession while dealing narcotics and attempted to flee from the officers who moved in to disrupt Langston's marijuana selling operation.
Langston was charged in federal court as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal, state, and local initiative to reduce gun violence. While handing down a 93 month prison sentence, United States District Court Judge Robert Gettleman noted defendant Langston's lengthy criminal history and the well documented dangers of felons possessing firearms.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dan Rubinstein and investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Special Agent Anita Singleton, and police officers Roland Rios and Arthur Harb from the Chicago Police Department - 10th District.
